  • Battlefield 1942 Gameplay Problem

    Hi,
I tried to get a image copy of BF1942 working so that I won't need to put a disc in every time I play the game. When I first mount the image and run the game, it works fine, but when you change servers from one to another, or sometimes exit to the menu, the game automatically exits and I am at my desktop again. In order for me to run this again, I have to unmount my image, remount it, and relaunch the game; and if u change servers again, the same thing occurs.

Is there any way to make this problem go away?

P.S. The only emulator than can have BF1942 fully function without this problem occuring is VirtualDrive.

for me it runs flawlessly and so far we did not received any
feedback like this yet. Maybe it runs not properly from DT
    BECAUSE VirtualDrive is installed?

Maybe your image is broken somehow? Really, I do not see
why DT should be involved here. Maybe you should re-create
    your image and test again..

      Well, I tried multiple ways:

1: Alcohol 120% image created with Alcohol Image Drive mounted. (Without VirtualDrive Installed)

2: Alcohol 120% image created with Daemon Tools Image Drive mounted. (Without VirutalDrive Installed)

3: Same as step 1 with VirtualDrive installed

4: Same as step 2 with VirtualDrive installed

All of these methods don't work. I used the original CDs to make my images, so I'm certain that I created them correctly with the Safedisc 2/3 Profile from Alcohol 120%

      P.S. I re-created my image over 5 times.

I have the exact same problem after upgrading to 4.0.3; BF
CTDs on the first map change (i.e. the first one after I've
played a round) and I have to unmount and remount my
mini-image before BF will start again.
With DT 3.x and the same mini-image as I'm using now, it
worked perfectly for 2+ years, so it would seem that 4.x is
        involved somehow.

(I've never had VirtualDrive installed or used any other virtual
        drives than DT's).

What about using a full image instead of a mini one? I play BF2 from a full image and it has a newer version of the copy protection. I can play for hours on end without problems (well, nothing related to the image or Daemon Tools anyway, just the usual bugs in BF2).

I can try, but it's odd that the mini-image I have, which has
worked flawlessly for years with DT 3.x, suddenly doesn't work
with 4.0.3, so I'd like to figure out why (and I'm also not too
fond of using 600+ mb for an image when 20 have been
            enough until now).

I've tried reinstalling DT and tried turning options on and off in
various combinations, but it makes no difference. Searching
the net hasn't turned up anything of use either, though I
know several people have the same problem.

I would like to find out what kind of image those who don't
have problems use. The one I have is an ISO format image,
which is a bit unusual, but as mentioned, has worked
perfectly until now (while the .mds/.mdf images I've found
don't work and I haven't had any luck creating one of my own
either. But then, I may have done something wrong when
trying to create one; never tried it before).

Ironically, the BF2 mini-image I have works fine with DT 4.0.3.
            I just don't like BF2 much...

Well, nevermind that; a full CloneCD image behaves exactly the
same as the mini-image, so the format isn't the problem.
