What type of image is best?

I want to create disk images for my games is any type better than the others? .iso, .img, etc? Some of my games are on DVDs oblivion etc, can i put them into a disk image too?

Use Alcohol 52%'s native image format mds/mdf. As opposed to ISO and similar formats, it stores enough information about the actual disc for copy protections to work.
