Pls Help, Pls!!!

This is probably a stupid question, but here goes.
Im attempting to launch an application that demands that the disk be in the CDrom drive before it will install. I have successfully mounted the image, however when I attempt to run the install.exe, a prompt says it can't install from the hard drive, despite the fact that im running it on DT's virtual CD drive. Can some one help me? What Wrong?

/BTW the program in question is abandonware (tie fighter) and not subject to copyright portection.

beware of abandonware... It's on the margin of legality. And by the way, no Lucas Arts games have been abandoned...
