i bought the games from chessbase in germany. it cost me 75 euros. so i presume these games belong to me and i can do almost anything within reasonable pc-limits.

but i cannot start the games from a virtual drive.
i am asked to insert the original cd.

protectdisc 7.6

any chance to get around this problem?
the image is produced without any problem.

please note: i do not want to copy the game.
i do not want to run it on any other pc.

i just want to escape from putting the original disk into the drive every time i want to play.

it is disgusting that such disk protections are legal.

i bought the 219 version and installed it.
produced a fresh image from which i could successfully install the game.
however, when trying to run the game protectdisc is still producing the same error message, i.e. it could not recognize the original disk etc. etc.

however, previously protectdisc also listed all incriminated programs such as DT (and alcohol and Virtual Drive) which it does not do any longer.

any comments?

must i know details about configuration of DT?

now i have installed DT 219 on an absolutely clean pc:

without solving the problem.
protectdisc still returns the same error message as before:

could not identify original disk - please insert

absolutely disgusting - i.e. protectdisc not DT

any further suggestions?

Try to deactivate the VSCSI Adapter and activate the VIDE Adapter.

As long as the error message doesn't mention emulation it should be another issue ?
Which profile did you choose when creating the image ?

what do u mean? which profile?

where do i determine "profile"?

i just told DT to make a new image which dutifully was done.

heureka.

when using the plugin data disc it didnt work.

however, upon terramexes suggestion to check the profile i tried Protect CD 5 plugin:

and thank u all - it does work.

i mean i love those protectors which compell u to spend another 50 euros to make the game really playable.
it is like anti-virus programmers sending around some more new pc-infections.

anyways. it works and that is all i wanted. thanks.

The 'data disc' profile is for unprotected discs, that's why it didn't work.
