iTunes complete back up

Can aomeone please tell me what software, if available, I would require to allow me to "click back up to disk" in iTunes but actuallly have the information go directly to a drive. Currently copying my entire music folder with xml file and such does not save an exact back up version of the itunes library. In order to have a duplicate back up it must be saved using the itunes option "back up to disk", at least that's what a veteran tech at Apple stated.

I greatly appreciate the help.
