  • Backup copy

I have only one CD/DVD drive ,so that to do a backup copy of my AOE2 ( the old game) I done an image with Daemone tools Lite and then burned it with Astroburn Lite. All OK ... but when I insert the CD and hit execute button on the first frame , AOE2 asks to mount the CD !!!
I have repeated two times the creation of the backup copy ....with the same result ....
    Any help ?
    Many thanks.

Is the image working when you are mounting it into DT?
Make something idiot proof, but then they just make a better idiot

Yes ,I suppose is a Microsoft protection so that only the original CD can be used...

Then your image is bad (you may try to change install drive in registry, i don't know where it is exactly stored for that game, otherwise try to install from image and then try to start the game), try to recreate the image with DAEMON Tools Pro and SafeDisc profile.

Can not run on a virtual machine ?
            Thanks a lot.

I've dug up my old AOE2 in the attic.
                Gamestart is not hotwired to the installation drive; indeed you get a popup message but game starts anyway;
                so drive letter doesn't matter.

In real or virtual drive ?

                It's Safedisc 1.30.010 (v2.0a: Safedisc 1.45.011).
A proper image should work by all means in the virtual drive.

                Regarding your non-working burned copy:
In DT Pro open Tools/Preferences.../Advanced and tick Safedisc.
Now load your burned copy and try again.

                  It WORKS ....
.but in the systems where is not installed DT
                  the backup copy doesn't work.....
It's not an "indipendent" backup copy.

So i guess you've created only ISOs yet.
When burned back to CD the typical defective sectors of Safedisc 1 won't be present anymore when using a simple ISO.

If you need an "independent" copy i recommend to get a trial of Alcohol 120%:
Read and write your image with its Safedisc datatype and you should be fine.
