PC game Patching

after insalling my game media, i tried coping the seperate patch into game directory and i'm told that i have insufficiant memory to copy patch contents into game directory. the game is like 7.74 G and the the patch is like 17 MB. the game takes up all the memory on the virtual device with 0 memory free left. Someone help and explain what i'm doing wrong.
