I am wanting to be able to run my games without having the CD in the drive, please could someone outline the steps that i need to do to be able to do this?
You'll need a Burning Software specialized on cloning CDs like Alcohol 120% (see my signature). Make an image of your CDs with Alcohol, mount the image into Alcohol's Virtual Drive and your PC should be fooled into thinking a real CD was in a real drive.
You'll find plenty of help for every single step in the Alcohol Support Forums.
By the way, you can use Daemon-Tools for mounting just as well (there's no difference between the two programs) but as you'll need to have Alcohol installed for creating the images you can use it for mounting too.
