  • Can you please tell me if it's possible to fit a PS2 DVD-9 backup on a DVD-5?

    Hello, I'm new here

    I mean if it's possible to make a bakup from a PS2 DVD-9 (or with TOC > 4.7 GB) and burn it in a standard single-sided DVD+/-R 4.7GB :?:

    Thank you for your attention

No, but since dual layer DVD+Rs are available you can try them - you'll need a dual layer writer though.

I think LocutusofBorg means dual layer commercial DVDs, which has been pretty much the standard for movies for quite some time now (if not since the beginning), not the ones you can now burn yourself. The image should be made from a commercial DVD (which PS2 games are), and that might be dual layered. I have FFX (PAL) for PS2, but I haven't a clue as to whether or not it's dual layered. The box doesn't tell, probably because it doesn't matter like it does in movies (where you get the slight pause between layer change).

              *Edit*

Come to think of it, if the game ISN'T dual layered, but you make a back up and put it on a dual layered DVD, would the PS2 even read it correctly (assuming you've already "bypassed" the check for proper country/region/copy protection)? By that I mean; would the PS2 change layers automatically, or must the contents be programmed to tell the reader (in this case the PS2) where the layer change happens?

Why does it have to say if it is dual layered or not?You can figure it out yourself!Single layer max capacity 4.7gb,dual layered 8.5!If a dvd size is below 4.7 it is possibe for a dual layered dvd was used(and wasted another 4.7..)but if a dvd size is above 4.7 it is 100% positive that the dvd is a dual layered one!

And what i meant is that i've seen a ffX backup some long time ago when commercial dual layer dvds didn't exist,so how could someone had burned one???
