  • Unalbe to mount image. Track pregap not found.

    Hi,
I have an old CD (1998) containing an old program that I wish to backup. After investigating why it cannot be copied it turned to that it has this Laserlok technology built in, a hidden folder named "Laserlok" containing:
    LASERLOK.IN 20,000 KB
    LASERLOK.O10 195,313 KB
    LASERLOK.O11 195,313 KB
    LASERLOK.O12 19,532 KB
    LASERLOK.O13 19,532 KB
    LASERLOK.O14 4,883 KB
    ---------------------------------------------

with CloneCD I made (process time: 21 min) an CCD file that when I tried to load it into DAEMON tools virtual drive showed a message:Unalbe to mount image. Track pregap not found. and when I tried to burn the resulting image it made me a useless CD that has 0MB in windows, even though with burning programs showing that it has data!

    What to do ?
the CD structure looks like that:
    Code:
    Session Track	Mode	Adress Length
    01 01	1	00000150	00000000(0byte)
    					02	1	00000150	00331743(647.9MB)
    					03	2	00332043	00000180(413KB)
    					04	Audio	00332373	00002580(5.8MB)
    					05	Audio	00334953	00000330(757KB)
    my system is:
    Athlon 2k+XP, Windows XP SP2
    drive: HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8523b(1.4 flashed)
    any suggestions ??

Try Alcohol 120% instead of CloneCD.

I used it as u mentioned, with an option Data Type: Laserlok, after finishing the MDS file Daemon tools was not able to mount the image, even Alcohol wouldn't mount it in its virtual drive(I did check the Laserlok emulation in Alcohol)
please help me if there is any steps or settings to follow.
p.s.: I installed Forceaspi32v4.60 as an ASPI layer.
      Appreciating Your help !

I hardly believe that Alcohol and D-Tools cannot work with an 1998' protection.. The problem might come from your computer rather than the copyprotection. Try with a friend's computer to fix this.

Anyway, I used to play Warrior Kings some time ago, which is protected by Laserlock too.. And at that time i think i was using VirtualCD. Maybe you should try.

this is what I get when trying to load the MDS file:
          Invalid Image File !!
is it because of bad sectors on the disc, or my burner just dont support a feature required to do such a job ?

I think you should try to dump with different drive!

Anyway, send me please MDS file that was created by Alcohol
            to venom386@daemon-tools.cc
            I will take a look.
Please rar it before attaching to email!

I just noticed that first track has 0 bytes - it surely violates CD standards.
Do you see such CD layout on ORIGINAL CD before you dump with Alcohol or CCD and Windows can see it?
Try to use another drive as I said. Such CD layout is illegal and will not work in Alcohol or DT of course. That is why Windows cannot see anything as well.

My theory is that track 01 is just not present on this CD. i.e. track 02 is first one according to TOC and this is LEGAL. But somehow your drive reports also Track 01 which is wrong,

                Thanks VeNoM386 for your tip,
I got another drive from ASUS CD-S50/A I will set if it will do any good with that.
I did not note how backup is important only after I read a huge ammount of articles that discussed media durability, then I was shock with the fact that every CD has some sort of protection, maybe I knew before, but I ignored that fact because I did not have the need to backup.
Daemon Tools site was the base and begin line that made me explore the protection world tricks.
although I have a question, maybe its off subject:
my NeroCDSpeed3.0 does not show me any info at all about media inserted.
but when I try Alcohol > Image Burning Wizard > Information tab > Advanced, I get an info about media dye and manufacturer.
I tried DVDinfo3.51, CDR ATIP read, CDRIdentifier, none shows any info about media inserted, just nothing.
is it because of my drive ? I had another computer with LiteOn drive, it gave me a lot of info about media inserted.
                Ciao

with Alcohol and my other drive: ASUS CD-S50/A I started Image Making with Laserlok option, it showed the same TOC as my LG GCE-8523b, in addition CD-S50/A cant read sub-channel data.

I would go "back to the roots" and try Blindread 2-5. And maybe CDRWIN could help with extracting only the "good" tracks, but this might take a long time.
