DT4 - kinda useless now?

latest V4. I will not (for good reason) tell to much about it,

it seems that V4 is not what they expected - from a reversers

hadrware makers selling burners like two casette deck
they making a optical snapshot of original disk to R cd or dvd
actualy they copy all ones or zeroes to a same place to recordable media
this device is too hard to find on the market but is great gadget

you are talkin about replicators yeah they are amazing but getting a 3 layer replicator (1 reader and 2 writers ) is considered a LUXURY gadget since the price will pass 900 $

I took a closer look at some of the files. What on earth you folks done to the code is really beyond my brain's ability to parse dissambled code. The biggest difficulty seems to be that you can't have DT4 installed if you want to "debug" it.

If anyone actually succeeds to blacklist that thing, he must god-like!

isn't that similar to the tricks behind starforce, i.e. that you can't run a debugger at the same time as the app.

well for starters they have created their own digital signiture ala verisign... which is good...

and yeah whats the use for them unless you plan to sell illegal

I bet u cannot send that replication in a email ..or put it on
a torrent or ftp or usenet. So if you plan to shed out 900$
to be able to copy orignal software just to give real copies
to your maties well ok u still would need to buy or obtain a
oringal cd to copy from ...kinda useless doh ?

So what, he is doing it for "academic" purposes

DT4 probably doesn't even cause softice or similar debuggers to fail (except dynamically - at the moment dt4 driver is executing). Otherwise protections would be able to detect installation of dt4 that way and simply refuse to run.

Code obfuscation seems a good choice here, by preventing protection makers from simply reverse-engineering code they need much more time for each blacklist (even one that is fixed in 5 minutes). E.g. they can try to find dt4 code pattern but then a simple parameter change and you have totally different bytecode. It also makes it harder for them to disable debug-preventing code.

Btw. does every machine have different byte content of driver file? (is it constructed on installation using random parameters?)
