mini and maxi images, image burning

I have some questions:

1.With wich copy protections do mini images work?

2.How do i create a maxi image (where all data contain only 0s and can be compressed to a very small file) and do they work with every copy protection?

3.Can burn a MDF/MDS or do they only work if i mount them with Daemon Tools?

4.I have found a mini image where some of the files(the autorun-files) in it were complete(it was for Warhammer 40K Dawn of War, it didn't work, probably because i have the german version).
What are they good for?

I think that to make maxi images, you need to do a little bit of hexing, and I dont think thats allowed here. I'm not sure tho....
