  • Can't rename or delete SPTD.SYS in recovery console

Whenever i try to rename it, it says access denied.... It won't let me do a repair install either. Any suggestions?

    non-standard configuration

You have a non-standard configuration then? Maybe corrupted MTF entries or ACLs applied onto that file. I would insert the hard disk into another machine and investigate methods of deleting that file from windows. Can you boot to safe mode (remember the option to hit the ESC key)? Can you boot to normal windows and run the "sptdinst.exe remove" program?

Did you try booting from your Windows disc and run the Recovery Console from there or did you run it from the HDD? If from the Windows disc, did you try running a chkdsk on the drive to check for errors in the file system?
