The Search Bar will NOT be installed if the checkbox is disabled, and moreover the installation can still be cancelled by just pressing the cancel button at bottom right of Search Bar EULA.
The missing entry in software add/remove is most likely due to some anti virus or similar, which prevented correct installation.

I experienced the same thing. I installed he program, opted out of the adware, then CANCELLED the installation. I had no antivirus or spyare progams installed. I found 3 adware programs (that came from your installer) one of which, Surf Side Kick, could not be removed. I installed and ran multiple adware programs, none of which could remove it. It has since manageed to delete my registry editor and command prompt, successfully killing my OS from being repairable. Your "freeware" cost me my C:\
