  • Newby has some questions (Warning- may be stupid)

    HI

I am new at this copy protection so I have few questions that need answers.

I burned my game (first cd was in mds and second was in iso format) to my cds. When I checked the contents of cds after I 've burned them everything looked wright. Installation for the game was on them and it worked perfectly. The game has installed without any problems.
    Now to my problem.

This game is secured with securom. As I have read in one of the posts here I should mount the image with daemon tools, then run asr.exe and choose the exe of the game.

But my questions is: How do I mount the game if there are no mdf/mds files on my cd? Only usual instalation and data files that the games needs.
I have tried to run it without mounting the image and it worked! Two times!!!! And no more. So I must be doing something wrong.
    Please help me!!!

Second question is. Is it possible to install a game with mounting it if there are two disks? If it is how it is done? When I mount the first one and it start installing, how to mount the other one so installation is not broken?

    Thank you for your help

Mounting an image to a virtual drive is an alternative to burning the image to CD and inserting said CD into a physical CD-ROM drive. Most modern copy protections can relatively easily be copied from disc into an image, but it's a lot harder to copy write them back onto a CD-R. Additionally, many users find it a lot more comfortable to not have to change CDs every time they want to play a different game.

That said, the ISO is quite probably worthless. The ISO image format doesn't contain enough information about the disc structure for the copy protection to work. You'll need to create a new image using Alcohol 52% from your original disc.

Hard to say how long it takes on average, I'd say a few hours tops, and usually a lot less than a day for sure. This is an estimate, not an official statement though, there are no fixed times for checking the moderation queue so it may vary from day to day.

erm, how did you make the image?, doing mds for one, and iso for the other is a bit 'strange'....
