  • Please insert CD??????

    I have used DTools for a long while. However thi seems to be the first problem I have encountered.

    A week ago it worked fine, mounting images. Now all of a sudden when i click, search or anything on the designated drive, a message pops up "please insert CD:"

    Ive tried .bin files , .cue files , and .iso files .
    Nothing works????

    Please help

    Which game did you try to start?
    ISO, CUE, BIN Images can't save the necessary data which many games need to be started using an image.
    Use for example Alcohol 52% to create a mds image.

      I've been having the same problem... no matter what image I mount I cannot open it. If I reboot my laptop it works fine for a while then stops working again.

      I'm currently running 4.08 x86

        re: "Please insert disc ___"
        I am having this type of problem with Phantasmagoria and Nightlong (and I have to go) I have them properly installed with DTPro standard and the games work perfectly, but when I get further in the game and it ask's me to insert CD 2 or 3 or... I cannot go any further, is there a work around for this type of protection?.

        Thanks
        Ray

          You know this thread is over one year old?

          Also could you scan the game to get the exact copy protection. When you scanned the game you have to select the corresponding plugin.

            Yes I was aware that the thread was old but my eyesight is even much older and I have a hard time finding another more recent thread on this subject..
            You suggested: 1) I could scan these games... Could you please tell me what type of scanner, I've tries several suggested from your site and others and had no success. 2) What type(s) of plugin are there for these types of game situation..

            Thanks again for your quick reply

              You can scan the CD and/or install directory with ProtectionID or BurnOut.

                Well I used the 2 scanners you mentioned and the results came back with "Could be CDCheck". Now I am stuck with this , how to bypass this??
                I have tried playing around with the nl.cfg file, this is the line and only one which is inserted in this cfg file:
                d  K I
                d = drive?
                the funny sign means what?
                K = Knightlong
                I = the virtual drive of the 1st CD
                So I am trying to play around with cfg file but I am afraid my (old) memory of Dos commands is way behind me. Would any of you know how to write a script for this?
                I know it can be done, I remember sites where they used to write files where when it asks you to put in CD2 or 3 etc, all you had to do was hit the Enter button and voila....
                thanks again

                  Same problem, too!

                  I use AnyDVD to remove copy protection from my dvd's to burn an image file and once I mount them nothing happens. I've been using DT for a long time and never had this problem. It's also happening with my game iso's. I've got the latest version DT, too, if that matters.
                  Please help, I HATE running sims 2 on it's CD, it makes it run so slow....

                    Are you talking about windows autoplay/autorun ? What if you try launching the game from the start menu link and what if you try launching your dvd player software manually?

                    If this fixes all your issues then we can work on fixing windows built-in autoplay.

                      Yes, sorry I wasn't more specific. After I have mounted it, and wait, I then launch it from the start menu and I get the "insert cd or wrong cd" error.
