  • Daemon Tools DOWNLOAD WARNING and RESTRICTION

I realize that the DT team has and continues to do a service to us voluntarily, but there are disastrous malfunctions associated with installing Daemon Tools. After reading multiple accounts of such a wide array of not only standard bugs but catostrophic failures, several of which I have encountered myself and resulting in full hard drive reformatting on two occasions, I have come to the common sense conclusion that there should be a warning clearly displayed on all afflicted DT files. I encountered these problems more than a year ago, and almost absent mindedly installed a new version of DT recently before I remembered that this is not only a risky but downright dangerous installation. Again, I realize that all software has its share of bugs, but what I don't understand is how multiple hundreds or even thousands of people download DT software without the smallest awareness of the existence of such bugs until after catostrophic failure. An explicit warning must be displayed, and the availability of new versions of DT should be restricted to people who are willing to beta test them and who acknowledge the risk that they are taking. Only after extensive debugging on multiple hundreds of system configurations should new versions be released to the public. This way, bugs can still be identified and remedied without the confused, distraught, and angered mass of downloaders. I am sure a huge amount of time has been spent by the DT team to create this software, but it takes a comparatively miniscule effort to protect DT users from the dangers associated with it.
I realize that this post is very critical of DT software, but it is appropriate considering the severe consequences of using it.
