  • Virtual Drive Issues

First of all, thanks in advance for the help! I've been tinkering with this for hours but haven't been able to figure it out or find help. I've lurked these forums awhile, but finally decided I needed to register.

So, I'm trying to run the .iso for a game I downloaded, and cannot for the life of me get it to actually do anything when I mount it. I started by trying to use Daemon Tools Lite, and put the .iso in the drive/mounted it, but it wouldn't actually play anything (or in this case, start the installation). So then I noticed I still had an old version of MagicIso, which the trial ran out on, and thought that might be interfering, so I deleted it. Tried Daemon again, no success. Wound up downloading Alcohol 52% and Virtual Clone Drive just to see if they would work where Daemon wouldn't. They didn't.

So I noticed that none of this stuff was actually giving me a drive that I could use in My Computer. Checked the name of the Virtual Drive Daemon Tools was trying to use, and it's Device 0: [-:]...in other words, a nonexistent drive in terms of my compy. So I went to the device manager, dropped down the DVD/CD Rom Drives tab, and noticed a bunch of stuff. First of all, no matter how many times I try to delete the thing the MagicIso based drive comes back every time I restart. Second, all of the drives from the programs I had downloaded were there, but every single one of them had the yellow exclamation point warning, and when I checked the properties, all say "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)"

    Any ideas?
