Here's my idea.
I'd like to see support for images compressed with RAR/ZIP.
Not having to burn out CD's for every release downloaded, is fantastic.
This could be taken one step further, by allowing to mount a complete RAR release (RAR..Rnn) containing an image file.
This would probably be amazingly slow if the archive is using high compression, but most of the time when the archive is just for packaging into small portions (e.g. 15MB) and no or low compression is enabled, this would really save people lots of time.
For example, when you download a complete DVD-R release, instead of spending ~10-20 minutes unpacking it, you could just make Deamon tools mount the image stored in the archive right away.
Of course, this could be used for any type of archive, that needs to be mounted rather than unpacked. For example, you download an Xvid release, with 50 rar files. Instead of unpacking, you'd be able to just mount the .avi directly, enabling instant access. Obviously this is a little out of scope from the purpose of Deamon tools, but the concept of mounting remains.
Enabling people to mount complete releases instantly would encourage p2p users to keep the entire releases, instead of just unpacking and throwing the .rar's away.
One could argue that the CRC checking in RAR would be missing, but that type of exception could be handled on the fly, and besides, most, if not all releases, come with SFV file for CRC checking.
