*.*mdf and *.*mds files

i want to open mdf file but when i try to open it with the D-tools
it inform me :
unable to mount image. file not accessable

what i need to do or how can i open that file

p.s i have mdf and mds file with the same name

if i mount the mds file it give me the message : unable to mount image. file not accessable
and if i mount the mdf file it give me the message : unable to mount image. invalid image file

so who can i open the files???

Did you rename either file since creating the image? What about moving the files to another drive letter or partition? What CD/DVD reading program did you use to create the .MDS/.MDF ?

i did't create these two files i get it from friend of my
and i don't know from where he get them
