Dear DT community!
As you might notice, MountSpace service was launched this month. This service works in aggregate with DAEMON Tools software.
So what is MountSpace? Mountspace service is intended to collect statistics about mounted via DAEMON Tools images and to provide DAEMON Tools users with processed information back.
There are 3 main steps:
1. Collecting mount statistics
Since DAEMON Tools Lite 4.40.1 MountSpace collected information about images mounted via DAEMON Tools. The only information which can be sent to MountSpace.com is information about mounted image (image hash, image file name, disc label, number of mount occurrences). There is no possibility to identify people using this data. ANY USER’S PRIVATE INFO CANNOT BE SENT!
In order to collect mount statistics DAEMON Tools sends to MountSpace.com 2 files:
"C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\DAEMON Tools [Lite/Pro]\ImgList.dat"
"C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\DAEMON Tools [Lite/Pro]\ImgStats.dat"
You can use any text editor to view contents of these files.
Note: Just disable “Send anonymous usage statistics” option in Preferences to prevent sending info to MountSpace.com.
2. Processing mount statistics
Collected information is processed on server side in semiautomatic mode. All processed data (information about discs, names of most used images of specific disc, mount statistics, etc) can be found at MountSpace.com.
3. Getting image info by user via “Media Info” panel
“Media Info” panel was implemented in DAEMON Tools Lite 4.45.1 and DAEMON Tools Pro 5.0.0316. It is intended to provide a user with information about:
“Media Info” panel does not depend on “Send anonymous usage statistics” option because it does not send any statistics to MountSpace.com. It only uses image hash to request information FROM MountSpace. You can change “Media Info” position or hide it at all using corresponding options in Preferences.
MountSpace service is just launched. We understand that there is too little information on MountSpace.com for now. But we have huge plans concerning its development and we will do our best to make it more useful and comfortable for YOU. E.g., in the nearest releases we plan to add the following features:
Please be patient! Thank you in advance
P.S. If you have some suggestions concerning MountSpace.com, don’t hesitate to contact us!
