  • Install Loop

    Hi all,

I have spent a great deal of time on the forums checking out other install issues, but I can't find any that specifically match my problem:

This is a fresh install of XP pro 64bit. I have had the version 4.04HE 64bit working previously (as in yesterday) but now I've reinstalled the OS, I am experiencing an install loop.

I run the .exe, it tells me that it needs to install the SPTD layer. I accept and then reboot. When the OS returns, DT auto starts the install, but simply says it needs to install the SPTD layer again and needs to reboot. Hence the loop.

I have no errors, except this in the System Event Viewer:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: sptd
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 4
    Date: 14/06/2006
    Time: 11:25:05
    User: N/A
    Computer: FICBA
    Description:
Driver detected an internal error in its data structures for .

I do not have any firewall or AV installed (even disabled Windows FW!), tried installing in safemode, deleted the SPDT.sys files etc etc - basically, anything that other posters have suggested in previous threads - to no avail.

I've never had any issues installing DT 64bit previous to this. All the same hardware as before, which is:

    WINXP 64bit PRO
    AMD 64 4000
    2GB PC3200
    SATA RAID0 (2x 80GB) Partition C:/ (40GB), D:/(the rest)
    NForce 4 AMD64 v.6.69 (latest)

    Any help really appreciated!

    J.

Check and see if you have the MS updates mentioned in the following thread installed.

as seen above, this is exactly the prob, the windows-patch.

Please next time check first if maybe thread exists which
describes your problem, otherwise we have soon dozens of
similar threads which all are about the same prob, you can
imagine that this costs you alot of your time and us alot of
      additional work!
