daemon.exe won't start

Operating System: xp
Burning Software: nero
Anti-virus Software: panda
DAEMON Tools Version: 3.46

The Daemon.exe process does not start on my machine after succesfull installation. When double-clicking the executable in the installation-directory I see a hourglass about one second but nothing else happens!
There is the followning entry i the run-section of the registry :

DAEMON Tools-1033 "C:\Programmer\D-Tools\daemon.exe" -lang 1033

Has anyone else experienced this problem?!

Do you see the task bar icon? Did you disable the task bar option to show icons from recently used programs only?

No I didn't do either. After the install-program finished successfully and after a restart the daemon process wasn't started (as it should have been due to the run-section entry).
