I am experiencing the known reported bug:
"Delay of up to 2 minutes (system seems frozen) when drives are scanned for first time after reboot (e.g. when explorer is opened). This appears to happen only on systems with VIA/ALI/AMD chipsets or a RAID-controller and only if you replaced the default hard disk controller busmaster drivers installed by Windows with an updated version from the chipset manufacturer. We're investigating this problem!
Current solutions:
Reinstall the drivers coming with your Windows version.
Deselect 'automount' under 'Options' in DAEMON manager and accept the delay when you mount an image. It only appears once every boot up.
This problem seems to be solved for most people now. Only a few still have some problems. If you're one of them please report it to our eMail including your full system configuration."
Which has not been solved for my system. I am using a VIA based MB
(Tyan S1590 MB) with the latest BIOS upgrades. I had loaded the VIA Busmaster drivers and have uninstalled them and reloaded WinME. The problem persists.
I have only Nero (newest release) as a burner software and VOB (Instant CD) and a number of other tools on my machine (NO ROXIO or other burner software however). Interestingly Nero does not see the Daemon managed drives as existing and the FREEZE only occurs if there are virtual drives allocated. The length of the freeze is proportional to the number of virtual drives allocated.
Any suggestions on where I start? :?
