Are there any files/drivers that my drive is dependent on that might have been deleted in the installation/reinstallation process?

Hello, normally you dont need extra drivers for optical IDE drives. So i suggest you to go to you resaler and ask if there's a way to test the drive - or if you have the money, take a new drive. But if you have any warranty to this drive, i suggest you to go to where you buyed it and try to complain the drive. So they must check the drive.

Another way is more difficult - a firmware update. But i dont want to explain you about it, because it's to hot for noobs - please, i dont want to affront you.
