Why not IDE emulation?

I wonder why does all the cd-rom emulators runs on SCSI interface rahter than IDE? Why not make one that runs on IDE?

I've been reading through the documents came with windows ddk and didn't find anything to say no about this.

Could someone tell me why this is bad?

IDE supports 2 devices only, SCSI lotsa devices.

vIDE is already implemented in DT Pro, for this you need a license (only available when Pro got released)

Kind of strange statement "already implemented" but "if Pro got released" ...

This makes me ask two questions :
- How you know it's "already implemented" if it's not released yet ?
- Why "if" is there any chance Pro will not be released ? (One more reason for me to wait for release before buying).


Also if I may continue on original question - what is so different beteen virtual SCSI and virtual IDE drivers. From my (very limited) understending if you can create one you can create another , it's just a bit different protocol to implement and register under different type ?
Or is IDE (ATAPI?) protocol makes some problems for 1:1 emulation ?

Yes, and more than one prob.

EDIT: Blazkovicz means: you can not buy DT Pro license now. You can only buy license WHEN DT Pro
is released. So yes, you can't even buy it now, regardless if you want or not want to buy PRO
