I noticed an application changing the settings (in this case turning off RPMS) on Daemon tools, and this was bad news for my CD clone.
I then suddenly remembered a feature in Zonealarm (firewall app) where you had to confirm every change in the settings.
I don't know if it will fix every application/game which "denies" the use of DT, but I have a feeling that in this particular case it actually would make a difference.
