Does anyone know a software which may do the above or would it be possible to implement such a function into Daemon Tools?
What I mean exactly:
The possibility to share CDROM drives over networks (lan and internet) and being able to mount those shares so that those will be handled as if they were local physical drives. So the client must send every request from an application which tries to read from the drive to the server who would send those requests to its physical drive and send back the answer. It wouldn't be fast but at least a lot of people could use one drive without any compatibility problems and without the need to create images.
Perhaps there is a software which can do that (at least I see no reason why there shouldn't be) but I just have no intelligent search words to google for it.
