Missing DVD Drive

I followed everything suggested in this thread

but my DVD drive is still missing from my list, and it does not autoplay when i insert a disc, etc

my drive only became missing after I used daemon tool to set a virtual drive

MY DVD drive is listed in device manager, so it is being detected of course, but it is just not being listed under my computer, and does not activate using autoplay, so it is basically unusable at the moment.

If anyone has any advice as to how i may fix this, please tell me

First of all is the drive detected on BIOS level? If so is it present in device manager?

standard windows driver as far as I know, I never installed any specific drivers besides what is listed in that screenshot that windows used to assimilate my DVD drive into the system.

On the screen shot are no drivers listed, you've to press the "Driver details" button, then make a new screen shot.

Try to remove pxhelp20.sys from list of filter drivers by editing registry (see thread you mentioned for details). Reboot afterwards, then check.

hmm, i guess i am not and was not aware of how to remove pxhelp from the registry, with that thread

Read the linked Microsoft knowledge base article regarding the upper and lower filter sections (Method 1). Export/safe the keys, so you can restore them in case of trouble. Then delete upper and lower filter keys as mentioned in MS article and reboot.
Note that these problems are NOT caused by Daemon Tools.

Ideas: Windows XP system restore, restore a manual registry backup, or restore a registry backup made automatically by spybot search and destroy (if you've installed that program in the past I can direct you to finding the reg backup).
