  • Daemon Tools broke my CD-Rom drivers?

    Before anyone flames me, I did read the common problems section. However, I don't want to mess with anything until someone confirms my problem.

    Anyways, when I install my HP CD Writer (9100i);
    INSERT INTO `portal_posts_text` VALUES
    Windows detects it as 'Generic Stealth DVD SCSI CdRom Device' and wont read CD from it. I just removed this drive from an old computer and it was working fine. The BIOS detects it fine (Hewlett-Packard CDRW Plus 9100i). Now, I know ''Generic Stealth DVD SCSI CdRom Device' is related to Daemon tools. I recently uninstalled Daemon tools before putting my CD writer on.

    If anyone can point me to the right direction, it woudl be greatly appreciated. I really do not want to reinstall Windows

          Plug and Play is definitely screwed on your system - only thing i could suggest only is to try assigning drivers manually in device manager for all your CDROMs. Most likely your system has other buggy filter driver running (like one from Easy CD or some packet writing soft).

            It is also possible that hp 9100i firmware is screwed up. Maybe try updating to latest firmware.
