windows - wrong volume "the wrong volume is in the drive"

when installing games i keep getting a popup that reads "windows - wrong volume" "the wrong volume is in the drive" cancel, try again, continue. does any one know how to fix this issue?

This sounds like some program has accessed the cdrom, and is expecting whatever used to be there. Can you try disabling norton auto-protect, and the see if you receive these message?

turning off norton av had no effect. any other ideas?

Try to close any background apps (via ctrl+alt+del).
