DVD drive no longer reading DVDs

So I installed Daemon Tools and then used it to mount a virtual drive to play a game.
After the first day of installation, I tried to watch a movie and when I inserted it into my laptop DVD drive, it spun up but then nothing happened.
Even though the drive is still there under the drivers section, it won't read dvd's.
I tried uninstalling, and it didn't work.
I tried a system restore and uninstalled again, didn't work.
It will only work if I leave Daemon Tools unused and running on my computer.
I DO NOT WANT IT ON MY COMPUTER!
Please, I really need help!!

I am having a similar problem. It worked yesterday after I disabled the demon drive. today, it didn't work either way. I have tried it with the tools working and turned off.

I use vista. The drive is on my computer.
