Is SPTD Necessary?

Hello,

I just installed Daemon Tools Lite without SPTD, and it seems to be working just fine. Is SPTD even necessary? My OS is Windows 7 x86, and this is the first time I've installed DT on this system.

Basic virtual drive functions work without SPTD layer, but you will need SPTD layer for advanced functions (e.g. playing games using newer protections).
