  • Deamon tools on schools

    Operating System: Windows XP
    Burning Software: None
    Anti-virus Software: Norton Corp Edition
DAEMON Tools Version: We hope in the future

    Hello community,

In my spare time i work as a sysadmin for a school to support their network.
The workstations are running on Win XP (we are upgrading them at this moment).
The school doenst have a lot of money, so we are looking for a solid and cheap solution for virtual CD's, cause 90 percent of the programms are running on CD's these days and the results are written to disks.
For each class we need 5-10 virtual CD's to be loaded,i know Deamon-tools normally doesnt support more then to mount 4 CD's, but is there a way with this beautiful programm to do so ?
If so we would be very thankfull !

    Thanks in advance,
The children from the "Theo Thijssenschool" and myself

why not simply put the cd-roms on dvd images and mount those? 4x4.7gb is enough for 15 cds

It could be a lot easier to just mount them over network shares and not mess with virtual CD drives at all?

One solution would be buying Alcohol 52% - it has support for over 20 virtual drives.
        Win2k3 & OSX Intel, 2GB DDR400 P4 2.6@3.55 H2O, 7800 GTX @480/1250 H2O, 1x74GB Raptor, 8x400GB RAID5

atm, there's NO possibility to use more then 4 drives.
This will change in next version of DT.

Cause a lot of school software asks for a "hard" CDRom drive.

Surely they don't need all 14 or so images mounted at the same time so you need to employ one of the scripting solutions to enable your students to select which image to load and launch.

The little students are 5-11 years old, i dont think a child with a age of 5 is able to do that

                  Thx for replying anyway

You can try Daemon Script to create shortcuts which mount and run whatever you want meanwhile, so the 5 - 11 year old kids just double-click the icons.
