Check in task manager if daemon.exe is running, if so end it, then try to remove -lang 1033 switch from desktop icon -> properties. If it works you can try it for autostart (registry), too.

                  Thanks for reply, but...

                  Hi

I went into the files and removed the lang dll, but when I try to start it then all i get is an error message saying no language file selected.

                  Any other ideas?
BTW it is not running in task manager.

                  cheers

You should NOT remove the language dll - where did I say that?
If daemon.exe is not running, there seems to be a problem with autostart (registry) on your system. Does it start normally if you double click desktop icon?

whoops! sorry to be sucha dumbo

                      Hi
OK, when I click the icon on the desktop, nothing happens. When I go to the daemon program folder and click on the exe icon, nothing happens. I have been through the repair / update procedure and still nothing happens.

I right clicked on the desktop icon and I couldnt find any way to remove the lang 1033 switch (not sure what that is), so I thought you meant to remove the dll so I did. I have put it back and done nothing else since you last posted.

I am really grateful for your help, and amazed at your patience, I know can be frustrating cos I often help people over at webmaster world and oscdox. But please bear with me, I am sure we will straghten it out.

Do you think it is worth uninstalling and going back to a previous version?

                      cheers

In properties of desktop icon you should see the command line:
                        C:\Program Files\D-Tools\daemon.exe -lang 1033 :?:

Thanks for that, but no, nothing happened. I deleted the switch, tried to use the shortcut on the desktop again, but no luck. Any other ideas?

looks like everyone has given up on us. I disabled my virus app, fixed the autoexec.nt file which appeared to be missing, repaired and still nothing.
This is not easy to uninstall either so I hope someone out there has an answer, cos I have done everything I can.

You and I cant be the only ones out there this has happened to, maybe the only ones persistent enough to post on the forum, so it would be a good idea if the gurus here could get it solved.
                              Cheers
