    Cannot install Daemon tools 3.47

    Operating System: win XP
    Burning Software: Alcohol 120%
    Anti-virus Software: Norton
    DAEMON Tools Version: 3.47

    I had daemon 3.46 installed on my system for a very long time and was quite happy with them. Recently I decided to upgrade to 3.47 so I unistalled it and tried to install the new version. I got an error msg:

    25031(ox61C7), 13 (0x0). I restarted the computer and tried again. Same error.

    I tried going back to 3.46 but I got a 25001 error.

    I tried installing 3.44 but got the same 25031 error.

    I followed all the instructions in the 25002 thread, and found a registry key for 3.46. I deleted it and tried to reinstall 3.46. Got the same 25031 msg as before. I copied the setupapi.log file below.

    Anybody knows what is going on?

    Is this 4D36E97B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318 key part of the old daemon installation? Should I remove and try again? Is there any other remnants of Daemon not mentioned in the 25002 thread that I must remove?

    I tried disabling norton before installation but it made no difference....

      Oh I forgot to mention. The detect hardware wizard comes up before the installation is finished and tries to install device drivers for the software. Could that be the reason this is not working?

                    old Nero ImageDrive and newer DAEMON Tools

                    You probably have an older version of Nero ImageDrive.

                    These are some extremely obvious steps to update to the
                    most recent version:

                    Uninstall Nero ImageDrive. Reboot. Upgrade to the newest
                    Nero version (assuming you purchased it) and install the
                    ImageDrive executable that comes with it (I'm not sure if
                    the new setup makes you manually install it or not).
                    Reboot after installing Nero and Nero ImageDrive, then
                    install DAEMON Tools v3.47.

                      Hi! Just to say that it has worked for me. I just went into c:\windows\system32\drivers and renamed two files called st3*.sys into st3*.sys.bak, then deactivate the SCSI controller, canceled the stealth generic DVD, rebooted, then cancel all the registry keys with st3 in them (not the ones which were obviously not concerned) and rebooted again. Now I can't see any track of that annoying driver... thank you very much ssakznadodry, hope to be helpful for you in the future...
