  • Problem Installing Daemon Tools

    Operating System: Windows XP
    Burning Software: none
    Anti-virus Software: Norton Anti-Virus
    DAEMON Tools Version: none

When I try to install Daemon Tools, the installation gets most of the way done, and then hangs and displays this error message:

    Could not open key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

Then, the installation cancels, saying that it was interrupted.

    Help please?

Did you check registry permissions for that key with regedt32? Ensure you've full access.

Are you logged on to Windows with an Administrator Account or only with a User Account? For installing Daemon Tools, you'll need Administrator Privileges.

To ensure you have full access to the registry key, do the following:

Start regedt32 (click start, run, type regedit and press enter)
Go to the key you need access to
Right-click on it, click "Permissions", select your username (or "Administrators") and ensure that "full access" -> allow is checked AND that "full access" -> deny is unchecked.
        "I was inappropriately blunt, wasn't I? Sorry, I do that a lot."
