DVD Drive not recognising any DVDs

Operating System: Win XP Pro
Burning Software: Nero Express
Anti-virus Software: Mcafee Security centre
DAEMON Tools Version: 3.47

I just put a clean installation on XP on and installed all my Appz and drivers and have been running DVDs fine with Nero showtime.

After installing Daemon tools DVDs are not being recognized either with Daemon tools installed, or after uninstalling it.

CDs are being picked up ok. But i cannot even see the DVD in the drive when i look in My Computer. This same problem happened with my install of Win 2k also. Reinstalling the DVD drive does not work.

DVD drive i have is Plextor PX-716A

I'd really appreciate any help you can offer.

I have the same exact problem. Dell tech support couldnt fix it. Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but which thread in common problems and solutions can help me?
