Its has a yellow '?' mark under 'other devices' not 'unknown'

When i try to do 'update driver' from device manager than manually select either 'cdrom.inf' or 'dvd.inf' a message comes up sayin 'The specified location does not contain information about your hardware' ack another roadblock but getting so close to fixing this problem!!!

owwww. I just looked at the picture. You never removed your old version of DT. You should remove 4 and then remove DT 3.47 and ask for help if you can't get 3.47 permanently removed.
