If anyone did like me and it worked, don't turn off autostart or shut down DT. It only works if DT starts when Windows starts so you cannot turn it on manualy when windows is running because then you get the error message agian.

        Umm...

I am running windows xp proffesional with sp2 installed.

I run microsoft anti-spyware beta and also f-secure interent protection.

Yesterday tried to upgrade deamon tools to v4. It started fine - said it needed to reboot.. then the same problems as these guys. It wouldnt install - got as far as the last section then 'internal system error contact support'.

I then had some issues with uninstalling which i managed to do following the hints here. I managed to reinstall the old deamon tools.... uninstall that... then clean install .40. This time it wouldnt even install just saying 'internal system error contact support'.

I rebooted it into safe mode and it installed fine. My comp then started and Deaomn .40 attempted to launch. I recieved an error message saying. 'SDTP Initialisation failed. disable kernel debugger.' (or something to that effect).

Hope this helps try to eliminate the problem - appreciate all the hard work you guys are doin'!

"System File Error" when installing 4.0 Solution

          Uninstall previous version of DT.
Boot in save mode, when ask to boot SCSI driver press ESC.
Got to system32\driver folder and delete sptd.sys and sptd7437.sys - digits number may be different.
Boot in normal mode and continue to install DT4.

I start the installer ,after sptd install,
computer ask reboot ,then when reboot complete
the installer launch and ask again for sptd confirmation
if I it ok then I get "system file error"
if I check event viewer there's this error

            "source: sptd
            category : none
            typre: error
            event id: 4

driver detected an internal error in its data structure for.
            theres some bytes and words"

so at this point whatever I do ,if I restart ,
            when widows has finished unloding
I have to hit reset or stay in front of a black screen forever.

Now if I delete the sptd files after a reboot I get this message

            "source: service control manager
            category : none
            typre: error
            event id: 7026

the following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: sptd"

but then when I launch the installer again I can accept sptd installation without getting "system file error"
but after restart back to square one "system file error" and same sptd error in log

So all this has been said before but I wanted to summerize because I tried something to just see a different message log .
I renamed sptd.sys into sptd1629.sys and sptd1629.sys into sptd.sys restarted and then in event viewer nothing not a single error sptd seems to load correctly weird isn't it

well it's just weird cause it doesn't help with the installation
the installer just overwrites the files and back to "system file error"

but perhaps it may help the programmers

(ps: i've uninstalled symantec,ad-ware,all sf games and all sf drivers)

I have the same system file error. I tried boot in safemode, dont load sptd driver, then delete it and reinstall DT anyway dont work.

                Installed software:
                Windows XP SP2
                .NET Framework 1.1
                ESET NOD32 Antivirus
                Agnitum Outpost Firewall
                VMware Workstation 3.2
                Alcohol120 1.9.5
                D-Tools 3.47
                StarForce driver 3.5.10.3
SFcure 1.0.h filesystem antiblocking driver for Star Force

                Hardware:
                Motherboard on VIA KT266A

Does anybody have the same software or hardware?
Maybe problem arises because of .NET Framework?

I have windows 2000 latest sp and different hardware,
but the thing in common is .NET Framework 1.1, so perhaps problem comes from that,i'll try to check

Remove StarForce drivers from your system (see here), reboot.
                    Then uninstall DT 3.47, reboot.
Then try to install DT 4.00

So I tried uninstalling .NET Framework, appart from the fact that several new errors screens popped after restart ,there where no changes for the Daemon install, so now my system was messed by .NET Framework uninstall

Made backups formatted c: reinstalled windows(service pack eplorer 6, direct x, and all hotfixes),drivers ,antiviruses, all like before but not framework, launched Daemon install ,asks for sptd ,click ok, ad-aware ask confirmation for a registry modification, dammit I had forgot to stop them antiviruses, well ,hit ok then restart and after restart all went well ,now daemon is installed.
So was it .NET Framework I don't know, but this time it was a fresh install without any games installed and symantec and ad-watch were running, also since last time I had run windows update theres now some new hotfixes,a directX security update and an Ie6 security update, also the drivers for my system were updated that's all the differances I can think of

"System file error" to "Unable to add adapter" reduction

After "System file error" message I go to Device manager,
select View - Show hidden devices. Then i select "No PnP
device drivers" item and dubleclick on SPTD. In the Driver
folder I change Autostart type to System. Restart computer
                                and successfully install DT4.

BUT when i try to start it, I have "Unable to add adapter" error.
Dtscsi.sys is present in system32/drivers folder, but not
present in Device manager (not installed correctly).

PS Some of item may have different names because i translate
                                it from Russian
