  • Access Denied installing drivers for scsi cdrom

    Ok,
The problem is that after installing Daemon Tools V4
my computer can't install drivers for virtual cdrom's
anymore. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, installing
Daemon Tools 3.47, removed Nero, removed all Starforce
related programs (games, drivers) and finally I edited the
registry to get some changes, but it was all effortless ...
    I've ran out of ideas
    I'm running WinXP SP2
(under device manager the generic dvdrom has a yellow
mark on it(see pics). the scsi controller is ok)

    Thanks in advance...

    ...

Can you use the System Restore function or find a registry backup?

      Nope,
No System Restore (disabled it i think)
      and no registry backup either,
      so it's a dead-end for me ..

Re: permission denied in Add new hardware wizard

How about running regmon and logging which key gets an access denied message? (I'm not sure if its a permissions issue --knowing Windows that error message could have nothing to do with file/registry permissions).

So simple solution to describe/hard to do: find the files and registry keys and set the permissions back to normal.

          Unbelievable,
          Regmon really helped,
there were a few access denied
entrys, all in the same directory,
I edited the permissions in regedit
          and it installed drivers perfectly.

          Thanks
