Need help with system lock up

Helo i am having a problem with daemon tools or starforce 3 games, but anyways when a go to play any game now it locks up right a way (even non starforce games) and it sounds as if my hard drive stops. I know it not the harddrive because it brand new and it did that with my old one. It does this every time i put on daemon tools and starforce games, but it works for about a week then it will freeze like this. Here is my system setup
Amd 2600+
1 gb ram 2100
256 mb Radeon 9800
Windows xp pro sp2
I also have Alcohol 120 v1.9.5 Build 3105 on
