  • FEAR on fx5500 ?

Is it possible to play fear on fx5500 on low settings ? I was able to play Half Life 2, I didn't try any latest patches for fear. Do they help ???

I tried it once on an FX5600... In a resolution of 800x600 it was playable (make sure you enable DX8 shaders in advanced graphics options, this will boost the framerate a lot on older cards).
But the game looks horrible like that....

that's the beauty of half-life 2, it's so scalable almost anyone can play it with a halfway decent machine.

possibly like others have said... but theres not much of any point... without the high graphics and special effects, what fun is it? you may as well be playing playstation1.

No, its the same for any modern game... Iv ran Hl2 on my good machine and bad.. and inorder to run it ona old machine, it needs lower graphic detail and DX8 or 7 mode... witch makes it look like crap.

I tried the demo it works on some medium settings on 800x600 resolution. The real thing ppl ignore is the option "force dx8 shader" always turn it on under performance settings....

Thanx I'll buy the game now...
