Is OpenOffice able to capture text
    from an image?

You need an OCR to get text from image. I don't think there is such function in OpenOffice.Org, but it's worth checking

By the way, if you have a printer device that is able to scan, you should have one in the bundle of crap that is installed with the drivers.

I have Grabtext installed & that will do exactly as you want.

For some reason you cannot purchase Grabtext from their website the shop's been closed for several months now.

The trial is still available to download, it's worth trying the trial to see if it still has a time limit?

why don't you just try "Ctrl + C" works for most standard message boxes (i assume you want the text from the message box that is)...

@sYk0: Which Windows version do you use?

                STRG+C doesn't do anything on XP Sp2.

Meanwhile I do not search for this tool any
                longer.

And which OS do you use?

I know that it works under
                    Linux.

Does under vista 32bits and XP x64. Didn't test under my 32bits XP.

Seems as if it also works in WinXP,
                        but not for all windows.

But as I said I stopped
                        looking for it.
