My first computer ever was a Sinclair ZX Spectrum, and I remember some games on it using the strangest copy protection ever: Lenslok.
The box not only contained the game, but also a strange lens. At the first run of the game, some code in an unreadable form appeared on the screen, so you needed to hold the lens in front of it to be able to read the code and then enter it to 'unlock' the game.
