Mounting in OS X

Hi I was just curious: how do you mount images in OS X.
I use daemon tools on my windows machine, but since there is no mac version, I'm looking for alternates

Some say Roxio Toast, and others say the OS.
Toast is pretty straightfoward, but how do you access the mounting feature built in to OS X?

What have you tried so far? Even if you don't want to buy Roxio Toast you can at least try double clicking an ISO image with Toast not installed and then tell us what happens. If it doesn't work too well then the assumption would be that you should go get Roxio Toast.
