  • Worms 4 : Mayhem

    Hi,

This game is protected by StarForce 3.5.5.1 . I tried to make a backup with Alcohol 120% profile StarForce 1/2/3 and DPM mesure 1X.When i put my image on the virtual drive of Daemon Tools, the game said there isn't the original CD on my drive.I desactived the other drive.Help, Starforce make me mad !

Sorry for my poor english :?

    Thanks

Headache solution : search the forums for starforce problems and try the "IDE-disable-with-USB-CD-drive" method.

    Non-headache solution : wait for Daemon-Tools 4.

Shut down your computer, unplug your optical drives and try again. If your image is good, that should work.

Or check the forums for the USB drive solution as noib suggested, but that doesn't work with the newest StarForce-versions anymore either.

Whether unplugging your drives is worth the effort or not is up to you to decide. If you don't use your drives regularly (e.g. for watching DVDs), you may as well leave them unplugged most of the time, you'll probably use images for all your games anyway, don't you? I for one don't mind having to (un)plug my drives every few days when I do need to use a disc. But as I said, that's up to you.

I don't think that unplugging drives works with 3.4 and up.

You need to make an image with Alcohol 120% using the StarForce profile. That will duplicate all disc properties needed for the copy protection, including DPM data of the disc (basically the angle in which the data is pressed to the CD).

If you've created a perfect image, you'll still need to do what noib said because the copy protection also checks for emulation programs as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.

So, did you create the image with Alcohol's StarForce profile?

well i heard the usb method works when you remove all drives but unfortunatly i do not have all that is required to use the usb method thats why i guess i'll have to wait for a no cd fix or DAEMON TOOLS 4(praying for it to be released faster :P )

Well, the usb-method that works with Splinter Cell 3 doesn't work with this version. Wen must keep on praying for DT v4

Bismax what you say is not really true.

And the last game i have checked was Worms 4, and imagine you, it works from my usb drive too."

Yes but the DPM analyse doesnt work, and never worked for me.

You cannot make a DPM of a StarForce disc with the StarForce drivers installed because they disrupt the process. (Usually at 33%) If you want to make a DPM of a StarForce disc then remove the drivers before making the image. As soon as you try to start a StarForce game again, it will automatically reinstall the StarForce drivers and prompt you to restart your computer.

To find if the StarForce drivers are installed on your computer follow these steps.

                              1. Right click on my computer and select properties
                              2. Go to the hardware tab and click on device manager
                              3. In device manager, go to View and click on "Show hidden devices"
                              4. Click on the expand icon (+) next to the "Non-Plug and Play Drivers"
                              5. Look for 3 entries labeled, StarForce Protection Environment Driver, StarForce Protection Helper Driver, and StarForce Protection Synchronization Driver.
If these are present then you have StarForce drivers installed on your system.
