    Thanks for the answer!

The answer from the developer, at last... Thanks for the informative answer.
About users that can`t understand "it's done when it's done" - I perfectly understand them - there should be plans for development process. And beta-testing should not cause a delay, all bugs can not be fixed. You can release patches...
About "that`s not a Microsoft with they buggy software" - but they sell that " buggy software " and successfully enough. Users can blame developers as much as thay want, but if they are using this software, that it`s good enough.

But anyway, thanks for the answer, now i can understand when it can be released.
    Good luck!

All I have to say is:

If you get DT to work on my computer, I will have the entire DEV team's kids.

Well, in case you missed it, the plan *has8 been in place - and it is to be released this month. If the team had *no* plan I could understand the ramblings and such, but there is a ***PLAN*** and yet still the script kiddies bitch moan and complain.

[QUOTE=DmitriySA]And beta-testing should not cause a delay, all bugs can not be fixed. You can release patches... /[quote]

Key word in that sentence - ***should***. It should not it ought not - but if something critical is found during said beta phase, would you want it released only to be patched when the window of opportunity still exists to fix it *before* release? Not me - I want it released stable.

In as much as I care to argue, they are not selling their software solely based upon its own merit, but more so because of their extremely aggressive (and, I might add, extremely successful) marketing strategies.

I will agree with this last part here - The team is working hard on it, and that is exactly why continued requests of "when will it be released" are annoying. It amounts to a child in the back seat of a car on a trip asking every 5 minutes "Are we there yet?" while the damn car is still on the highway.

        It is just plain annoying.

If you are female, and cute, they might take you up on that!!!

If for no other reason, it'd be fun trying :P

Whoa! WHOA! I'm impressed at how ignorant some people can be. 48 posts in this thread, some of them *quite* long, and donkyboy comes here, probably doesn't read anything of it and keeps asking the same old stupid annoying question.

Great job. Makes me want to ban you.

On second thought... banned for the rest of October. *shir*

I'm not here to bust your cojones over this, but I really had to weigh in when I read this. The problem, over and over, a thousand times a day, is that there has NEVER been an answer to this question. It's not an unreasonable question, many of us do rely on Deamon Tools quite closely. I know I would agree to ignore any ignorant fools who demand an exact date when something is very early on in development, but an approximate goal is *not* unreasonable to request.

Sure, surround it with disclaimers like 'if no new problems crop up' and 'if everything goes according to plan', but what the users want is just an IDEA of how far along things are!

Again, to be clear, I'm not trying to get down on the developers here. I'm not saying you guys have failed or done anything wrong. What I'm doing is trying to give constructive criticism; not showing what you did wrong, but pointing out something and an idea on how to make it better.

Maybe stop looking at the thousands of 'OMG IS IT DONE??' emails as a problem to be fixed, and see them for the backhanded encouragement/enthusiasm that they are. Giving an approx. time, like you *did* early this month, is what I know I was looking for. If you make one post like that every week or two, I'm betting that the time you 'waste' every day saying 'STFU' ten thousand times will be decreased greatly.

We're not your enemies, and our goal is not to slow you down or halt development.

We're your users, and we, rightfully or not, expect a tiny modicum of feedback.

I've not seen anyone demand a hard date, at least not seriously, but nearly every other developer I know gives periodic updates on how things are going. That's all we're looking for.

Down to a few bugs? New bugs? Rewriting something? Something didn't work out? We'd like to know, that's all.

Waiting for months with no news is a million times harder than waiting for years with periodic news.

                  Thanks for listening.

                    release dates

Forge64, what about the fact that Microsoft announces release dates and now they have a horrible reputation (on-time wise)?

Do you want DAEMON Tools staff to be known for telling the truth? And regarding required 'periodic updates' - if there is no news then this is just misleading the users and becoming a propaganda machine with nothing interesting really being posted/announced. People would eventually tune it out and stop reading every announcement (thinking that some could be skipped).

I personally think this has been covered enough, we're all going in circles now.

I think the wisest course of action would be to lock the thread at this juncture..

..... What do you think <insertmodnamehere>?

P.S. - Is it released yet? j/k. Sorry guys *grins*

...sadly, out of hundreds of words posted by Pornstar, it can be summed up as simply as "they owe you nothing."

Having daemon tools working on a 64 bit system is a privilege, not your god given right. So stop the guilt trip and 'how dare they disadvantage me' angle, and be a little more grateful.

Comparing Nvidia turning over millions upon millions of dollars a year - to the Daemon Tools devs who no doubt feel as though they are treading water with some of the 'revolutionary' problems they are running into - is completely ridiculous.

Hi, I'm new to the boards! I'm generally quite a lazy individual so instead of doing some work on my own (like the search function) I'll just ask the questions that have been asked and answered repeatedly before (it save me a lot of time that way...the time you take to answer the same question over and over is of no concern to me).

So what exact date and time with DT4 be released. I'm not looking for a general idea, I'm looking for a VERY specific date and time... Because I'm so fat and lazy it takes me a while to get situated in my chair and move the cheesy poofs off my keyboard and I don't like to do that any more often than I have to...so please provide the exact date and time you WILL provide me with my free software.

Also, send me the Beta "I tell noone about it."*

Again like I stated in another thread. You claim you rely on this peice of software heavily!!. Then why is your profile not stating "customer" which shows you supported the devs? And why is it you think they owe you infomation about dtools 4?
The dtools team DOES provide all the info the customers could ask for, IN THE CUSTOMER FORUMS.
The don't owe you anything unless your a customer. Your a freeloader and thats the only fact you have to realize before posting these useless posts saying: your a user and they owe you.
No your not a user, your a freeloader which feed on the devs cause they are kind enough to hand out a version for free for people like yourself, but that doesn't make them owe you anything, info wise or support wise. Don't like that you can't get a release date? go somewhere else then!, don't like the devs don't meet the dates you expect or you heard which might not even be posted towards the freeloader but the registered customers. Cause you do know that registered customers get the software before unregisterd people, even the free version.
You seem to think you have the right to expect something from the devs, yet you can't seem to graps that your not a paying customer and by that shouldn't expect that the devs owe you anything. they don't get a buck out of you, they don't earn anything from you, except wasted bandwidth in the forums about useless complaints and egoistic childish demands.

Go donate/register and you can complain all you want in the private customer forums. Cause thats where the REAL users that the dtools team live on get their information and can state any complaints/issues.
