I noticed something above that is making me wonder about something else: You mentioned the errors are with the Virtual Drives, and buried in your original post was the error
Just a shot in left field, here, but is your mobo a VIA North/South bridge based board? If so, did you install the miniport drivers from Viaarena.com?
Again, *if you did*: you're SOL - sort of. I had similar experiences with the mini port driver(s) and after research found out that they are *only* needed for the NT OS - not *NT-based* OSs, mind you, Just NT itself. So, 2K / XP / 2K3 ***don't*** need that driver, and once you install it there is no real reliable way to get rid of it - it causes similar functionality breakdown as NetSoerfer described Roxio doing.
If you did: Do reformat, install *everything* except that one driver - and see how it goes.
(For all you who say you've never heard of mobos for Intel P4 CPUs with the VIA Chipsets - Tyan, amongst others, manufacture exactly those.)
Of course, if you did not install the miniport driver, then disregard this post.
@Underheaven and NetSoerfer - I realize you want the tests performed without Roxio installed, and perhaps that is a good thing too, but I sincerely think it is the miniport in this case - hence my suggestion to install everything else (including the Roxio) without the miniport drivers and see if it made a difference. If you think he should leave out both the Roxio as well as the miniport driver, I'll yield.
Also, last I checked, Nero's InCD only worked with CDRWs, whereas DirectCD (or its equivalent, whatever they are calling it now) works with both CDRW as well as CDRs.
