Under Vista Beta 2 Build 5384 I can install DT and run it (it initializes the drives and everything on startup) but I can't get the right click menu.
If I switch display settings to anything under aero (even vista basic) right clicking does work (and I can switch back and the image I mounted under basic works)
Running an ATI mobility radeon X1600 if that helps. No other virtual drive software or burning software or anything.
It is true that Graphic driver in Vista might give some conflicts with Daemon tools. Don't forget that Vista is still a Beta!
I had sometime some graphic bugs while i installed daemon tools but it was only with build 5456 of vista. The menu settings of the explorer use to settle back as default. But i repeat, I only had this with build 5456 of vista.
Daemon tools 4.03HE is 100% compatible with Beta 2 5384 only!
Ok!
I use to have this error also, but not with daemon tools!
I had this error with Vistabootpro and i had 3 partitions on my machine. (Xp, 5456 and 5384), i mixed up the boot file and couldn't even install 5384 with latest DT.
I think its already putt 10 times in this thread but... never enough they say
When i say vista works 100%, Its depending on how you installed it.
This is the perfect way:
- Install Beta2 5384 (Fresh partition & fresh install)
- Install Daemon Tools 4.03HE (Latest only including sptd1.25)
Is it that hard?
Many people still have problems just because they mix up installation, updates, uninstallation etc... its all disturbing the good installation of 4.03HE on vista.
Having multiple partitions can also be cause for trouble, Because if your boot file looks unusual, it will be hard for daemon to install properly. Thats the big reason for the fresh install, instead of mixing up partitions.
The new vistabootpro came out today, New name called "EasyBCD" , Good for Xp & Vista.
But here is whats interesting!!!
Look at the options of the screen below...
There is some legal dispute over the ownership of the code for EasyBCD, apparently it was stolen from VistabootPRO
the author of EasyBCD was one of the people who was helping make VistabootPRO, but he was trying to claim all the credit for himself and advertise his site in the credits etc. (all against the NDA he had signed)
the option you see highlighted is the same as using the command line to enter the command
"bcdedit -set nointegritychecks on"
While we are on this Boot Configuration Data (BCD) topic with tools like bcdedit and EasyBCD, here's something I don't understand. On an non-EFI (just a normal BIOS) computer BCD options are not stored in NVRAM, where are they stored? In some sort of bootup database file that isn't user editable like the old fashioned boot.ini was? It has got to be stored in a file or series of files on the disk, I wonder where?

Shit.... didn't know about that.... Sorry if i advertised it.

Short answer, you can't. DTools 4.0.3 with SPTD 1.25 is compatible with Vista build 5384, but 5456 changed enough that it's not compatible with that build.

Maybe it will work with next CTP? I will tell you next week with build 5472 of vista. Be patient, its coming closer
